Mr. Lewis was born in Jackson, Mississippi, USA.  He studied briefly at the Washington Studio School, Bethesda, Maryland and has obtained occasional studies at the Corcoran School of Art and Design, Washington DC and The Art League, Alexandria, Virginia.  His previous training was as a musician where he graduated Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, Mississippi (Bachelor of Arts) and The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio (Master of Arts).

Mr. Lewis considers himself largely self-trained.  He demonstrated an interest in the visual arts even in the early part of his life.  But it was only in 2004 that he decided to quit his secure government tenure and pursue his career as a full-time professional.  Mr. Lewis paints from his home in Alexandria, Virginia.  His long-term goal is to "just paint" and to hire out someone to manage the "marketing side of things."  His artwork is in private collections in the United States and Canada.
